HER NAME WAS WALLIS WARFIELD

Whether you like it or not, you will probably find that this biography of Mrs. Simpson has been heading and will continue to head your best renting and best selling lists for the space of its news value. This volume is a scant tid-bit for the gossip monger who has probably done better following the daily newspapers but who lives in hopes of more. It tells you with whom she went to school; it gives a glimpse of her brief marriages, justifying both divorces. It presents some personal data on her dressmakers, dinner service, etc. And of course, every effort is made to convey the idea that she is the ideal of womanhood, the acme of feminine charm, humor, intelligence -- flawless Queen of Romance. Written by a childhood friend. Thoroughly respectable -- disappointingly so, many will say.
