The ambience, accentuated by old-fashioned diction, is so far removed from the present that we can only wonder that anyone needs more fauns and nymphs, corncockle and silver oats, or swallows ""homing/ To England again."" The water colors are quite in keeping--like the pink-cheeked childhood of a Gordon Fraser greeting card.
