THE HORSE CALLED PETE

Davy is nine and disappointments are hard to take, especially when one's emotional life seems dead-ended. And then comes his first circus- a case of love at first sight for a horse -- and a chance to get the horse as his own when it is found that the horse has gone blind and is useless for the circus. A good boy and horse story, with a familiar outline but some new angles. And any good boy and horse story sells. The glossary seems a work of supererogation. What nine year old doesn't know what sweater means? Or loud speaker? Or clown?
