SLOPPY KISSES

Emmy Lou's family just loves to kiss, but after friend Rosemary tells her that kissing is just for babies, Emmy Leu refuses her parents' sloppy kisses. But then she can't get to sleep that night until, finally, she wakens her parents and receives their belated goodnight kisses. Next day when Rosemary again scorns the family's demonstrative ways, Emmy Lou pecks her on the cheek and answers, ""Kisses are for everybody."" A neat answer but a weak story. Burgess' pig characters add a touch of style and humor--Emmy Lou is amusing in her snooty disdain and her sleepless tossing--but the message is just for sloppy kissers.
