Another Joan story (remember Anchor for her Heart and Window on the Sea?) and this time Joan leaves the glamor of life with her father in California to spend the winter in New York with her difficult grandmother, invalided and embittered. A tidy little story in which a lot of loose ends get tied up, including Joan's romance with Bill, and the mystery of her grandmother's contrariness. A cheerless winter in New York is livened by good deeds. Nothing distinguished about it, except that girl problems seem always lively reading for other girls.
