MEN CALLED HIM MASTER

This book, for somewhat older children, approaches the same material in a somewhat different way. Instead of following closely the story as told in the Gospels, the author has attempted to recreate the period, the times, the region, and to fill in some of the background of historical fact, social commentary, and the presumption of what it meant to dare to become one of Jesus' disciples. A thoughtful, reverent book, with considerable evidence of scholarship, and more interpretation than the other book. Not as good from the angle of popular appeal. There are a few line drawings by Harold Minton, end paper maps, and- as in the other book- a list of scriptural references. More a book for study than for home and family reading.
