THE PASSIONATE STATE OF MIND

A second collection of aphorisms by the author of The True Believer purporting to be a dissection of modern man under stress of love, hate, fear, vanity, ruthlessness, cowardice, etc.- i.e. under the eternal struggle between good and evil. There are some 160 pages (280 aphorisms) definitely meant for the introspective reader in search of self-knowledge. This modern dress Marcus Aurelius or Thomas a Kempis offers little new, less hope if anything. Not too comfortable reading, but some of them turn a new light on present-day problems. Specialized.
