A MUSEUM OF EARLY AMERICAN TOOLS

Henry Ward Beecher called a tool ""but an extension of a man's hand,"" and it is of such tools that Eric Sloane chats in his ""museum."" His comments, placing the dates and uses of axes, cances, bowls, chisels, gouges, plows, saws, scythes, etc., are essentially complements to the sketches of the tools. This should be of interest to students as well as craftsmen.
