FRENCH MASTER DRAWINGS OF THE EIGHTEENTH CENTURY

An addition to Harper's Art Library in the Master Drawings series, in which we've already seen Albrecht Durer and Dutch Master Drawings. Again this new volume provides in the introductory text, concise background data and biographical notes. Notes on the plates, and- the main portion of the book- excellent reproductions of the best of the drawings of the 18th century school, which included Watteau, Boucher, Fragonard, Greuze, de Latour, Prud'hon and others. The author is the Professor of Art at the Federal Institute of Technology at Zurich, and Direction of their Print Room. A fine piece of book making.
