Introducing on the left. Angelina Garcia, age nine, and, on the right, Lorenzo, the Garcia donkey, in a dual recital of the day that started as usual and ended on the top of El Padre Mountain. It might have been the end for both of them, too, if Lorenzo hadn't balked--refused to go past the bush that hid the edge of the precipice. Switching from scolding girl to stubborn donkey is a cunning device, although it entails a lot of repetition, but the climax father and police materializing at the summit--is implausible from any point of view. Lost also in the general relief is Angelina's reason for the climb (to get nearer to God), which makes Lorenzo and Angelina another not-so-dumb beast saving a child who should know better.
