MERRY MATCHMAKERS

A bit stereotyped, though in the course of an episodic family story of Sweden one gets a good deal of the feel of how the simple working people live. From the hunt for a May pole for Midsummer Day, the activities go through the holidays, with picnics, with mushrooming, with parties and with various links to household and factory activities, culminating in the oldest lad having his chance to prove that he is going to be ready to step into a niche in the match factory which is the village good provider. A pleasant story, with not enough plot interest.
