Full of the feel of the country, packed with information about deer and all their habits, this is slimly story, largely natural history of specialized appeal. Imported from England, the text is full of technical terms relating to deer, but all simply defined, and with no basic hurdles in language for the confirmed reader of nature lore; the illustrations by Kiddell-Monroe, in soft black and reddish brown, have a sweep in keeping with the high hills.
