The galleys give us a brief history of our country, divided into chapters called, The Original Thirteen States, The Louisiana Purchase, Land Ceded by Great Britain in 1818, The Spanish Cession, The Texas Annexation, The Oregon Region, The First Mexican Cession, The Gadsden Purchase, Alaska Purchase, Hawaiian Islands, Philippine Islands, Guam and Puerto Rico, American Samoa, panama Canal Zone, Virgin Islands. On writing a list such as this it does make us sound acquisitive, doesn't it?
