As a Junior Literary Guild Selection, with the illustrator Helen Sewell and the famous author, this will naturally have a big send-off. It is a Christmas fantasy for girls and it will be interesting to watch its appeal for children and adults. It can be read aloud to a younger group. Nan and Pip are brought up in a big city by old Mrs. Finn who had loved their dead mother dearly. During the holidays, while passing a glly lighted window, she is struck by the resemblance of a wax figure to the children's mother. She points this out to them, they are entranced to realize that a miracle has occurred, for the wax lady nods and smiles for them alone. The mother's spirit watches from the clouds above, where the other angels follow the children and their offering of presents to the lady in the window. As this story is short, all librarians and book-sellers can find time to read it, and judge for themselves.
