VERMILION CLAY

Another Indian story, with a white child as the central figure. The Grigsby's leased the salt lands from the government -- the Indians who used the lick for generations resented it and captured their small daughter and held her hostage. You follow Indian life among the Miamis and the Pottawatomis as shared by their small captive. Good yarn -- though one feels that the factual background lacks the note of authenticity.
