SHADOW OVER WIDE RUIN

In 1885, Hepzibah, aged sixteen but only four feet, ten inches tall, came from Denver, to Gallup, New Mexico, to meet her Uncle Ezra and be taken out into the Navajo country to the trading post at Wide Ruin. All the customs of this part of the world are strange to her, queerest of all is bad old Daffy, who pretends to be insane, and Dolito, with whom she falls in love, who turns out to be a white man. Conditions at the post are poor, but what they are really after is treasure supposedly left by Maximilian.
