KNUCKLES DOWN

A boy nicknamed Dinks arrives in Clearwater in Maryland to spend some months of the winter with his grandfather. As the father had once won an important marble championship all took it for granted that the kid was good too. Actually he had been called Dinks because he was on the short side. He is accused of false modesty when he claims that he isn't very good at the game, so that he has to practise on the quiet when he is pushed into the big spring competition. Though skating, coasting, playing with a neighbors model engine, a school play, parties and fooling with stamps fill up most of his time, he does attain enough skill at marbles to do his family credit. A short book for boys, not too distinguished.
