THE BURNING LAMP

A real little nurse novel about Phemie, who comes from Glasgow to study under Miss Nightingale, forgoing a fortune and a fortune-hunting doctor, and then leaves for Argentana (sic) which is mining and Comanche country. Plain may our Phemie be but the starch goes right through her uniform into her soul and she's ripping her petticoat for bandages, lancing an arm, and almost drowns in a flooded creek from which she is retrieved to marry a Captain. In a word -- sanitary.
