SERGEANT VERITY AND THE IMPERIAL DIAMOND

The second time out for that portly policeman Sergeant Verity who finds himself, reluctantly, in India again, trying to retrieve a young woman (or is it a confusing two?) from a zenanah (harem, to you) and also a missing diamond, 793 carats, which disappears from its casket. Victoriana once again, and Selwyn has a lively command of the period and its parlance. It shows as he licks his mutton chops with obvious enjoyment.
