THE PARADOXES OF MR. POND

Posthumous volume containing Chesterton in his most delightfully inconsequential mood, telling yarns through his mouthpiece, Mr. Pond. For instance, there is the tale of two men who agree so completely that one just naturally murders the other. Mr. Pond demonstrates by a charming rambling method of quibbling and brain teasing. Chesterton was past master in the subtle art of intelligent tormenting. A deft storyteller, his paradoxes here seem more convincing than the unpremediated ones of his soberer work. A refreshing book.
