The familiar legend of Richard Coeur de Lion and the minstrel Blondel is the springboard for an absorbing romance, a tale woven with wit and humor. It tells of the king taking the semblance of a plain man, earning his bread as turnspit at an inn. But when his boss capitalizes his prowess, his disguise is useless, his identity is revealed, and he is seized and imprisoned, to be released through Blondel's efforts. Good entertainment in the old Farnol-Hewlitt school. Sprightly dialogue, occasional burlesque, an original yarn.
