THE OLD BAY PATHS

The network of highways between Hartford and Boston grew from Indian trails that were known from way back as Bay Paths. The story goes back to 1630 and traces the various trails and bypaths, the historical incidents, the landmarks which still survive. The Samuel Chamberlain photographs make this similar in appeal to his American Landmark series, though there is more text and that more definitely keyed to an audience already interested in the districts covered. A rather specialized item.
