SENRAC, THE LION MAN

Life in the Stone Age as it might have been among the cave men of mid-France, backgrounds a ponderous story of a lost boy's growth to manhood and leadership. Found floating down the river with a lion cub, Senrac is taken in by Saal and Chara, but as Senrac grows so does the lion Argh, and Senrac must take him away to live in a cave nearby. Recognizing his skill with animals and as a hunter, Saal's people make the young man their leader until another tribe from the north joins them to complicate things with a rivalry and then alleviates them with the solving of the mystery of Senrac's parentage. A sluggish tale of a grunt and groan society, this may have its merit as a nature study and an incentive to learn about the period.
