THE BEST FROM FANTASY AND SCIENCE FICTION

The ""Third Series"" focusses on stars which are bright- rather than fixed- in a constellation which includes L. Sprague de Camp and Fletcher Pratt, H. Nearing, Jr., Ward Moore, Manly Wade Wellman, and Alfred Bester- these the best known. R. Bretnor's physics teacher who discovers a new element in the Mexican jumping bean, William Lindsay Gresham's misty Romany romance, Ann Warren Griffith's Captive Audience in a world which is wired for sound-commercials, Alfred Bester's vicious child genius who does not know his own powers, - all these provide a varied vista in which fancy and imagination, humor as well as horror are all compounded. Good.
