MY FAIR LADY

From the French, this follows Monsieur Truche, a highly respectable man, from the time when a package picked up on the subway is found to contain the head of a beautiful girl, presumably his mistress- Claire. The balance of her body turns up and he is connected with the crime; his wife testifies against him, and only after the dismembered victim is found to be another than his mistress- is he able to find redress-with another crime. The macabre detail and mocking realism give this a special taste- which may not be everybody's. Try the Simenon market.
