FOR PREACHERS AND OTHER SINNERS

Firty-five brief commentaries on subjects ranging from ""Conferences"" and ""Cafeteri"" to ""Termites"" and ""Epitaphs"" are offered here by the bishop of the Southern California Area of the Methodist Church. These first appeared as instalments in a column entitled, ""The Mouner's Bench"", in The Pulpit magazin in recent years. In simple hortatory style, with sauce of ironic humor and common sense, the author speaks to temptations and problems arising in the life and work of ministers. Though primarily for clerical readers, these paragraphs might also illuminate the laity on the minister's trials.
