NORWEGIAN FAIRY TALES

Trolls, Hulders, Noekks, and Draugs people this eerie world of Norwegian fancy. There is a twilight quality here which sheds a unique light on these creatures, most of whom have recognizable counterparts in the fairy lore of other nations, and fires them with a strangely haunting magic. The author tells her stories in clear but evocative language, and her black and white illustrations, though generally uninspired, at times, admirably express the text.
