THE PAGEANT OF INDIA'S HISTORY: Vol. I

An addition to a series begun with The Pageant of Chinese History and particularly useful today as background for better understanding of India's troubled past. This volume can give only a quick glimpse of a teeming, complex civilization, centuries old. The author attempts to cover an overwhelming number of facts:- geography, prehistoric and modern, rulers, wars, customs, religious, culture, languages -- a monumental undertaking, going up to the Muslim conquest. The role of India today will be more fully developed in a later volume.
