MAP MAKERS

Group of brief biographies, which taken together develop the many sided idea of what is involved in maping the world. First a group of explorers, who by their efforts and courage expanded the knowledge of the earth's surface. Then other types of explorers, whose efforts gave added knowledge of people, customs and details of the course of rivers, etc. Then adventures in remote portions of the uninhabitable globe -- adventurers in science who developed the sciences of oceanography, seismography, weather, archeology and the undersea life. A challenging group of discoverers and explorers and each biography graphically handled, with the main purpose kept in view.
