RICARDO'S SEARCH

A good adventure story set in the Philippines takes a somewhat idealistic look at the post war social and political situation and also records some of the work being done by the Protestant church. Orphaned Ricardo, whose Uncle Ramon is a pastor, someday hopes to find Pedro, a friend of his father's who had fought the Japanese-for only Ricardo knows where Pedro's goods and money are hidden. But Uncle Ramon also has a task- to hunt for Soldano, a Huk leader, who was identified with Communists in the days of corrupt government just after the war. With friends, Ricardo and Ramon go to the mountains and as the mystery clears itself Soldano turns out to be Pedro. Now that he sees the government is in better hands and realizes the falseness of the Communist doctrine, Pedro is eager to work for the betterment of his country and people.
