ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ROSES IN NATURAL COLOR

As indicated by the title, this is a selective small encyclopedia of roses based on related color values. The order of arrangement of the fine color plates is designed to suggest to the collector and the grower those varieties and those color ranges that provide the most effective color combinations. 421 varieties have been chosen, all at a reasonable price range, all proved favorites of continuing popularity. There is some excellent introductory material covering classification, definition, modern and old roses, notes on cultivation, explanation of terms used, and some helpful lists of selections under their respective color groups, under fragrance, hardiness, flowering habit, etc. Then come the color plates, with numerical identification which in turn refers to the alphabetically arranged descriptive paragraphs. A final index provides a third system of identification -- the basic purpose of the book. In this size and format and at this price --recommended.
