by Hans Hofmann ‧ RELEASE DATE: May 5, 1967
What Mr. Hofmann is saying, along less denominational lines, is roughly the same as the text of the Birds' Freedom of Sexual Love (p. 167)--namely that the sexual experience must be integrated into ""life-awareness"" and that it demands a total involvement (""interaction""--the Birds) with another person. Mr. Hofmann, active in areas of both religion and public health, examines our society in which sex is a commodity as well as an activity; the failure of Christianity, the limitations of the naturalist view, and the weakening of family controls. He also discusses sexual development, attitudes, relationships before making his points on learning to live sexually by first coming to terms with ourselves as individuals. A thoughtful, theoretical exposition of a valid view which is not original but paraphrased in contemporary terms.
