THE RED CANOE

Canadian Ojibway Indians are the characters in this excellent story of the small boy who earned the two great desires of his heart, -- possession of a red canoe and the restoration of the use of his legs to his chum. Sometimes the lad is too, too successful, too too good; but the story has a certain zest that keeps it from being sentimental, and the picture of the life is convincingly authentic. The pictures, in black and white and in color, are very effective. Vocabulary for 3-4 grade.
