A TREASURY OF SCIENTIFIC PROSE
by ‧RELEASE DATE: Jan. 24, 1962
Editors Jones and Cohen have here garnered a golden harvest of England's 19th century scientific prose, golden from three aspects: scientists were then still writing in the expository tradition of Bacon and Donne; they still sought to cultivate the layman; and finally, their underlying philo-theological principles contrast sharply with our 20th century's quantum mechanics. The texts sparkle -- from Herschel's astronomy classic, through Bell's ""humors"" of anatomy. Excellent for both reference and readability.
