SUMMER GOLD

Barbara Estwicke, at college in North Carolina, receives notice that she must sell or pay up on back taxes on a large farm that is part of her father's estate. But a visit to the farm one weekend, with her boyfriend Bill, convinces her that she would rather renovate it instead which she does, for the theme of this book. It is a tough proposition but Barbara and Bill put their heads together, solve land and mortgage problems, start a girl's summer camp and discover a gold mine lost since the days of Spanish discovery. Set for the future Bill places an engagement ring on Barbara's left hand and seals, as well, the last page of the book. Silver Lining, but it wears thin when spread in such quantities.
