OLD LIBERTY BELL

The authors have done black-and-whites and a frontispiece in full color, which has been used as the jacket. Very few of us know all the story of the liberty bell which proclaims ""Liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof"". It will do all good to take a few minutes off and read this absorbing book, certainly all school children should have it as required reading now. Originally cast in London, it arrived in Philadelphia cracked by its own tongue, it was recast but its tone was bad, but finally was pronounced perfect, until it cracked tolling the death of Chief Justice Marshall in 1835. In September, 1777, when the British marched in it was carefully removed to Allentown. A great symbol of freedom, the great two thousand pound bell is still revered: may the day come when it is respected by all the world!
