THREE TALL TALES

On first glance I didn't think I liked this big book in simple color and comic book technique. But after a few dozen readings to an insistent five year old, its charm took hold. There are some irresistibly funny stories that hit the risibilities of the four to seven year olds. Eloska, a Viennese, found these stories in her travels. A rebellious elephant who didn't like work got himself an extended vacation; Lucy had many monkeys and pets but no real playmates; Abdul and his donkey were equally lazy-and each has special appeal for those sometimes naughty small listeners. (Perhaps good children would be shocked- there were none listening). An original and beguiling book.
