The ""above suspicion favorite"" back again with another sure and smooth synthesis of espionage, romance and man hunting, which is sufficiently proficient in surprise and suspense to please everybody. There is inevitable comparison with the earlier book, there will be possible cavils that the characters are not quite so likable, the story too loosely knit. But there is the same effectiveness of detail and montage to set off a first rate yarn. The story involves an English agent, Martin sent to Brittany to impersonate a Breton farmer, Bernard Corlay. The hostility of ay's mother and his fiances, Anne, the revealing of the fact that Corlay had been a Nazi agent, all prove liabilities as Hearne fronts for Corlay in the clique of Nazi agents pro. Good adventure as he foils the efforts to pry Brittany loose from France, to use it as an English invasion base. And good romance. In process of being serialized in the SEP.
