PRAY FOR A BRAVE HEART

A cloak and dagger story of today, as William Denning, at the end of his assignment to post-war Germany, finds himself involved in another affair with his one-time chief, Max Meyer. Stolen jewels provide the surface issue; the underlying problem is the suspicion that they are being purchased to provide funds for Communist infiltration. A rich American has renounced his citizenship for communism, and is suspect. Meyer's murder, a confusion of identities, clues leading across Switzerland, combine to embroil Denning, who finds that a network enabling non-conformists to escape Europe is also at stake. Sheer suspense and expert craftsmanship.
