We know H.T. Teilbet as co-author with her husband of various thrillers. Now she appears under her own name as sole author of an adventure romance which should have a plus sale on the thriller table. It is a honey of a tale, counter-espionage doubled, with a chase that takes the principals well across France, -- by car, on foot, by boat, on a tandem cycle. The girl, who had married an artist, and then lost him -- she thought -- to the unsavory death as a Nazi agent and collaborator -- comes to France, after the capitulation of the Germans, on an assignment connected with a famous collection. Fortuitously, it would seem, she stumbles on the trail of her ""dead"" husband -- and finds him very much alive, and still hiding under the sham front of a collaborator -- ""wanted"" by French and British and Americans, but actually, operating in the ticklish field of ""double agent"", trying to discover, before it is too late, how Nazi activities are being built into the fabric of the future. Their fates are indissolubly linked -- and they are used as magnets in their frantic attempt to escape the net closing in. Exciting reading -- without any profound significance. Good Summer entertainment.
