If you have traveled with this author through France, Canada and Italy, you will know what kind of a jaunt to expect. Details on travel, by air, railroad, bus and steamers; vocabularies for food in four languages; a lively approach to the passing (and past) scene; photographs, mostly by the author -- all add up to a traveler's work and reference book for planning before and consulting an route.
