Major Pollard, Sporting Editor of English Country Life did such a thorough job in this book on game birds and the shooting thereof that even at the original twenty-five dollar price it seemed a bargain. Telling ""those who know they don't know and those who think they know"" all there is to know about game birds, their rearing, preservation and shooting, the taking of a shoot, guns and ammunition, the varieties and characteristics, etc., it moves along with incredible ease and enthusiasm. While this is an English book, the game laws and the growing scarcity of game have turned the thoughts of many American sportsmen to the necessity for game preserves, stocking streams, fields and woods and gradually to the better organized British system. Six full color plates, eight black and whites. Suggest this book emphasizing the new low price as many sportsmen have long harboured a secret passion to possess it.
