SPICE ON THE WIND

This promises to be a stunning looking book, as well as a useful and interesting one. Illustrations throughout by Richard Jones, in three colors -- full page and double page spreads and half pages, giving the feel of the background of the natives of the Spice Islands, of the cultivation of each individual spice. The text, following an introductory chapter which sets the historical background and the importance of spices in civilization, takes each spice and tells something of its story, legend, value -- and the facts about its cultivation. Excellent supplementary material for geography.
