This is a story of dogged courage and hope against dangerous odds, as a German mother fights for the freedom of her son, a political interne in Germany. Using every connection, every alley (often blind), every ounce of persuasion, energy and anger, she struggled for five years to learn what was happening to her boy. But enmeshed in the crisscross of red tape, evasions, lies and rudeness, she met with little success, hearing eventually of the death of her son. An unemotional account, perhaps more moving in its detachment, of a personal struggle against Naziism.
