If there's a lynching up in ""Old New Litchfield,"" Connecticut along about October 9th, you can bet it won't be the wolf. Because comedian Douglas (My Brother Was an Only Child, etc.) does a funny if far-out expose of Upper Suburbia and its ""three inevitables. . . The mortgage. The taxes. And the neighbors."" The latter include Mrs. Kloompt, the ""Banshee of Bucharest"" who seemed determined to literally set the world on fire; ""good old Charlie Dawson"" with his large economy-size martini pitcher and seven boys--""The Purple Gang""; ""The Expert,"" with his Reader's Digest assortment of unassimilated facts and the ""Irving Greenthumbs"" and their constant, futile fertilization program. Then there was Gigi the maid who limboed under the ironing board, the Youth Center drop-outs who found more recreation in moving the cemetery; horse and dog shows, weekend guests, bird watchers and curler clad commuter's wives. Jack Douglas obviously embellishes like crazy but some of his material is all too recognizable. Connecti-cut-ups.
