THE POOR OLD LADY'S DEAD

A bipartite story of a lady who is bonked (do you prefer coshed?) in a small nursing home and her diamond ring taken (other ""guests"" seem to have left too much to the owners thereof); and of bile-bitter Detective Inspector Rosher who covets the life of his young assistant--a wife and a mistress--until two is too much to handle. Unextended but with a close lien on reality and neat as a tot of whiskey.
