Infielder Eddie Britt sees the Rangers as his last chance to stay pro before popping out to his father's insurance business. Helping out Jeb Scanlon in the bullpen, he talks the ace pitcher into a new twist of the wrist and Jeb suggests that Eddie should work behind the plate. He runs down the ump in the first game but picks up better things after that. An unconvincing undercover syndicate man is the only overdrawn character (Eddie tapes his pitch); the others are assets for any team. A good catch.
