THE MEANING OF THE BODY

This volume represents a contribution by an outstanding French scientist to the newly developing field of ""The Medicine of the Person,"" of which Dr. Paul Tournier is a well-known exponent. Originally presented as a paper at a conference on this subject, it has been expanded and translated into a book of solid proportions. Medicine of the sees the human being as a unity of physical, psychic and spiritual aspects, of which can be treated apart from the others. Dr. Sarano goes so far as to speak of the body as ""A Sacrament."" An introductory chapter sets forth some of the of the Medicine of the Person, after which the author proceeds to such headings as Body-Object and Body-Subject; The Body, Sign or Sacrament of the Sprit; this followed by a Practical Conclusion. Throughout, the discussion is informed by high medical competence as well as a sound grasp of Biblical and Christian matters, and is illustrated by a discriminating citation from literature. Dr. writes an introduction. For ministers, counselors, and all readers concerned with a full understanding of human existence.
