BIG TROUBLE

Two more sappy-looking kids with googly eyes (per Up Day, Down Day, p. 174, J-36), shape some clay into a live little dinosaur who wreaks havoc in the house until, with Dad approaching, they fight over who's to take troublesome ""Mel""--and quickly reduce him to his original, divisible state. A one-time joke that would have had more going for it as a wordless book--and then could have dispensed with the clumsy echo of the Night Kitchen text: ""We kneaded it, and punched it,/ and formed it, and scrunched it,/ and pulled it, and trimmed it,/ until it was just right.
