This Indian story achieves a difficult task -- the author manages, with a marked degree of success, to merge the legendary, visionary aspects of Indian psychology with a story of the training of an Indian brave, and the gradual development of the confederation which gave the Five Nations their strength. This is the story, specifically, of Winabojo -- otherwise known as Thunder-Stone, who possessed a mysterious magic power, the source of which he learned when he came of age. The story is not clearcut adventure; rather it is legend in the making. Not every boy who likes Indian tales will find it to his taste; it is for those who are interested in folk-lore and the motivating forces of a mystery people.
